TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Political observer from Jakarta’s Syarif Hidayatullah State Islamic University (UIN) Adi Prayitno argues that the rising votes garnered by candidates Prabowo Subianto and Sandiaga Uno according to quick count polls can be traced to the abundance of undecided voters, also known as swing voters.
“Simply put, there are 9-10 percent swing voters who jumped ship to [Prabowo – Sandiaga Uno],” said Adi when Tempo reached him by phone today.

Adi Prayitno argues that this category of voters landed their choice on Prabowo – Sandiaga Uno for their dissatisfaction against the current government’s performance, one of it being in the economic sector.
“The characteristic of these swing voters tend to be a bit more rational,” he said.
Up to this moment on Thursday with near complete votes collected, incumbent candidates Jokowi – Ma’ruf Amin continue to top the poll of three Indonesian pollsters; Indikator, Indo Barometer, and Charta Politika, for the 2019 presidential election.
